The dB at the BOTTOM of the throw — the desk's declared floor, and the one number this module
is built around.
A control's TRAVEL is the desk's and its CURVE is each surface's (operator ruling #168), so the
db limit the fader row publishes and the dB its own curve reaches at position 0 are one fact
seen twice. They must agree exactly, and until 2026-08-18 they did not: the row declared this
floor while the curve ran to -Infinity, so every position under ~0.037 derived a level BELOW
the travel the client had been told to render against — off the bottom of its own scale, and
unspellable in JSON besides.
So this is a DECLARATION, not a description: NormalizedScale is solved to land on it
(see CUT_OFFSET), taperOfScale anchors the sampled curve's bottom point at it,
and the row's db codec clamps into it. Change this number and the curve follows.
It is the wire's spelling of OFF, never a level the desk plays: the bottom of the throw reaches
the summing bus as digital silence (linearOfPosition), because a fader pulled fully down
must silence its channel.
