NOT the taper's guard. It is the COMPOSITION's: audibleDb is a channel's own dB plus its DCA
scale in dB, and a DCA pulled to the bottom is a linear gain of zero, whose dB is -Infinity.
JSON spells that null, a client doing arithmetic on it gets 0, and 0 dB is UNITY — the
defect measured on the live desk 2026-08-18 and felt as "the fader returns mid way".
So every row that publishes a fader dB composes it through here rather than flooring at its own
call site: one spelling of off, and one place to change it.
