    Interface GainDefault

One COME-UP GAIN: the value a stage starts at, in dB, and how the desk knows it.

The two members travel together because splitting them is how the defect this type exists to close came about. A bare number carries no claim, so a Roland box's MEASURED committing gain and this desk's judgement about a nominal mic gain — both +32 — were indistinguishable, and one of them was seeded onto a browser stream. A surface renders "the box arms this" and "your setting" differently, and it can only do that if the wire says which.
