Wrap a MeterSource with a read-through latest-peak cache, so the flow watchdog samples the very peaks the adapter's own meter poll already reads — no second meter pipeline, no extra probe subprocess. Every polled channel gets an entry: a row is its live peak (the louder of L/R), an omission is silence (the MeterSource contract), so a stalled channel reads as a real 0 — never a frozen last-live level.
