Re-store a port-string leg as the BOX it names, whenever the desk can name one.
A patch is meant to name a box and an input, never a socket. A leg can still end up a raw
port string honestly — an autosave taken while the box was unplugged has nothing to identify
— and such a leg is a liability: a stagebox node name carries the SEGMENT, so a replacement
box publishes the identical name and the channel silently attaches to different hardware.
Upgrading closes that the moment the box is visible, which is the only moment it CAN be
closed. A port nothing owns is left exactly as it is: an app's name is its identity, and
inventing an identity for an absent box is the mis-patch this whole mechanism exists to
prevent.
