The kind-based RECORD-ARMING default — what a channel answers before anyone touches its
/record row (recording-vsc §0.2: "every PATCHED input + MAIN armed by default … Aux/matrix
are NOT recorded unless asked").
Input and MAIN are the show: the raw inputs are what a virtual soundcheck replays, and MAIN is
the mix somebody wants to hear again. Every other bus the fact reaches — aux, mix, matrix,
fxReturn, fxSend, mixMinus — is a fold of channels already being captured, so recording it by
default would spend disk on a mix that can be rebuilt from the tracks. It stays ASKABLE (the
contract declares the row on it) and stays OFF until asked.
Kind-derived and not a stored per-channel value, exactly as soloSafeDefaultFor is: a
default written into every channel is a value the operator never set, and capture prunes it
back out for that reason.
