    Function hrpSearchFor

    • The search hint for a channel's assigned instrument family, or undefined where none is assigned — and undefined is the honest answer, not a copy of the wide defaults: the C's omx_hrp_config_default is their one home, and the analyze call sends nothing so it is used.

hrpMinConfidenceFor derives the floor from a voice budget, and applying it to a NARROWED budget would raise it — 0.25 at two voices, 0.50 at one. Measured against real spectra, that is unreachable: confidence is a comb's share of the WHOLE spectrum, so any unpitched energy dominates the denominator. A floor tom (100 Hz, three partials, a broadband attack) scores 0.0635 and a vocal over a modest room bed scores 0.1014 — both far under a narrowed floor, so the families the sizing meant to help would be the ones HRP went deaf on.

The derivation is sound in one direction only: it is a CEILING on the floor, from polyphony (the floor must sit below a fair share or a full chord loses its quietest note), with the measured noise score (0.0152) underneath it. Narrowing the search says how many voices to look for; it says nothing about how loud one must be. So every family keeps the console's floor.
