    Class RateWatchingNativeMeterSource

    The native meter source with a per-poll hook: the adapter's EXISTING meter interval (SoftwareMixerAdapter.startMeterPoll) calls read() a few times a second, which makes it the free periodic path the built-in-DSP mirror's sample-rate watch rides on (task #125's "re-push on rate change" without a second timer). onPoll is assigned AFTER the server has started (the mirror exists only then), so a missing hook is a plain read.
